CeMap explained

The Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice is more commonly known as CeMap. It is the British mortgage industry’s most recognised, and required, qualification. Students must complete three sections to become fully CeMap certified.

In any order

Some people are a little surprised by the fact that it is not mandatory to complete the CeMap training in numerical order. Instead, you can take parts 2 and 3 followed by part 1, or of course can you do them from 1 to 3. Both options have distinct advantages, and Beacon’s expert staff can explain these further if you wish.

Intensive or home study options

We usually deliver each CeMap Mortgage Advisor training course as an intensive, five-day programme. There is a five-day course for part 1 and an extra four day course for the completion of parts 2 and 3. The courses can be studied consecutively within two weeks, but we would like to warn prospective students that they are taxing programmes. If possible, it is best to leave a gap of at least a few weeks between both. There are also home study options available if required.

CeMap examination

A very good reason for having a break between the two courses is to allow sufficient time for passing the first exam before studying for and sitting the second. A registration fee must be paid straight to the London Institute for Banking and Finance (LIBF) in order to take the exams.

The LIBF manual

Unlike a number of other CeMap training providers, we do not insist that our students read the LIBF manual in its entirety before the programme commences. While other CeMap courses make 40 hours or more of prior study obligatory, Beacon is different. We know our students prefer the way we simplify all that financial jargon, making it much easier to understand.

The course structure

All of our CeMap training programmes take place at dedicated training centres. Every course has 14 trainees or fewer, as research has proven this to be the ideal number for optimum learning. The course fee includes all required CeMap course materials.
